Mickey Mouse made his on-screen debut in Steamboat Willie November 18, 1928.
It was also significant that this was the first cartoon produced with a synchronized sound track.

I don't have photos from 1928, but I do have some like the one above from 1973 taken by my wife's uncle. As he has aged I think Mickey had gotten better looking.
