DVC Add-on for OKW - Documents Arrived

Some time back I had posted that I had talked to Nancy Barbee, our DVC Vacation Advisor. She had put us on a wait list to purchase additional Disney Vacation Club points at Disney's Old Key West Resort. Last Friday (September 30, 2011) FedEx dropped off a package of documents to be signed to complete the purchase.

We originally joined the Disney Vacation Club in March, 1993 with a (then minimum) purchase of 190 points at OKW. Later we did an add-on of 60 points at OKW, and once again we added another 50 points at OKW.

We had started thinking about adding on again after we sold our motorhome. We were going to take that “vacation” money and put it into DVC points. I looked at several websites on the resale market to purchase additional points at OKW. (I like keeping all my eggs, er.. points, in the same basket.) After earlier this year when DVC changed its policy on the way new purchases on the resale market would be handled, I decided to call Nancy Barbee.

When I talked to Nancy we discussed options of points at Aulani, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I told her I had been looking at resales as I liked keeping all my points at one resort, that I felt it was easier to manage and make reservations. Nancy suggested the wait list to purchase points at OKW. She thought normally it would take about 2 weeks.

Well, almost four months later we have received our purchase documents for our last add-on at Old Key West, this time for 100 additional points. The documents are signed and dated October 1, 2011 for the 40th anniversary celebration. Now all we have to decide is when is our next vacation?

Many thanks to Nancy Barbee for helping us with this purchase!
